When it comes to quality and convenience, our packaging process at Organics Unlimited ensures our organic produce is at its freshest from harvest, to export, to retail display. Proper packaging is one of the most important aspects of our business and impacts distributors, retailers and consumers. We begin packaging our organic produce only after an order is placed, ensuring our products are the freshest from the time they are harvested to consumer consumption. After harvesting and packaging, our organic bananas are transported in temperature-controlled trucks and ships. The boxes they are packed in are crafted to ensure sturdiness, proper ventilation and convenience when in-transit.
Packaging designed with distributor and retailer convenience in mind
We design our packaging to make business more convenient for distributors and retailers. After an order is placed, each set of bananas is taped in bunches of five to seven called “a hand,” that can be scanned by weight at any retail checkout system. We pride ourselves in using minimal packaging on all organic bananas by using tape only. This eliminates the use of bags and minimizes the amount of total waste. Distributors are pleased with this packaging method because it makes their business with retailers much easier since our boxes serve as immediate displays. Retailers are delighted with this system because it allows for smooth ordering and pricing. In addition to distributor and retailer convenience, we also design our packaging with the end-consumer in mind.
Attractive packaging encourages consumer spend
Consumers are increasingly choosing to purchase from growers that utilize environmentally-sustainable methods. Our packaging satisfies this demand as our organic bananas are shipped in well-marked, attractive and recyclable 38-lb boxes labeled in green for Organics Unlimited and orange for GROW – our social responsibility program benefiting communities in our banana growing regions. This approach to package design and structure offers protection and quality, as well as consumer-oriented messaging on social responsibility and sustainability.
